ZTE Axon 7 Mini Update Brings T-Mobile VoLTE Support, December Security Patch

ZTE is expected to deliver Android 7.0 Nougat updates for a couple of its smartphones, including the Axon 7 Mini. The smartphone was launched in the United States last year, but it can also be purchased in other countries as well.
The good news is the Chinese company has started to push a new update for the ZTE Axon 7 Mini, but the bad news is the update is not what we’ve been expecting, Android 7.0 Nougat .
Instead, it looks like this is just a maintenance update that includes some security and network improvements for certain carriers. It’s also worth mentioning that depending on what version of the ZTE Axon 7 Mini you own, you might be getting a different update.

For example, the Axon 7 Mini in the United States will get a much large update that brings support for T-Mobile HD Voice call (VoLTE). This new feature can be enabled after the update by heading to Settings / All Settings / More / VoLTE Voiceall.

Aside from that, ZTE also confirmed the update should bring new APN that will match all major carriers in the United States and Canada. Furthermore, Google Applications has been updated, while the camera focus speed and night mode have been enhanced and optimized.
Last but not least, other general enhancements and, more importantly, Google’s December security patch have been implemented in the update.
However, if you own the international version of the ZTE Axon 7 Mini , then you’ll be getting a much shorter version of the update, which will contain only a couple of changes.
The official changelog mentions new APN for all big carriers in North America, December security patch and “other general enhancements.”
It’s also worth noting that the update for the US version of the ZTE Axon 7 Mini weighs in at around 420MB, while the other one is much smaller.
